About the Wine

Lovamor Albillo
Alfredo Maestro, Castilla y Leon, White Wine (with skin contact)

Lovamor offers a unique taste of the Albillo grape, an often-overlooked white variety from Castilla y Leon. Alfredo's dedicated exploration led him to several venerable vineyards around the Duero River valley, with the vines being planted between 1891 and 1910.

Given the age of these vineyards, the vines naturally produce fewer grapes. However, the advantage lies in the intense flavors these limited yields provide. Positioned at altitudes ranging from 770 to 1,100 metres, these vineyards benefit from the warm days typical of the region, while the significant drop in temperature during nighttime helps in retaining the acidity of the grapes.

Once harvested by hand, the grapes undergo a 7-day skin maceration, enhancing the inherent flavors and introducing a slight texture to the wine. This is followed by fermentation in stainless steel containers. An interesting aspect of Alfredo's process is the natural settling of the wine during the winter months, where it's exposed to the cold outdoors. This negates the need for additional clarifying agents. The decision to forgo malolactic fermentation further emphasizes the wine's fresh profile.

Lovamor, in its essence, is a multi-faceted wine. Though its maceration might lead some to categorize it as an orange wine, Alfredo's careful craftsmanship ensures it retains the characteristics from Albillo, and to retain plenty of freshness that is rarely seen on orange wines.
