Muelle de Olaso 2022
Bodega Luis Pérez, Jerez , White Wine

Muelle de Olaso pays homage to Luis Pérez’s origins. At the beginning of the 20th century, the Marqués de Olaso built this pier in Bajo de Guia (Sanlúcar de Barrameda) as a starting point for river journeys to Seville. This wine represents his vision for the future of the region, maintaining the identity of traditional wines.

Made from 100% Palomino Fino, the 40-year-old vineyard is pruned in the traditional Jerezana style called “moflete,” with a yield of 5000 kgs/Ha. The soil is Albariza de Barajuelas, known for its unique laminated marl resembling a deck of cards.

Harvest spans almost two months, starting in early August and ending in late September, with grapes selected for various wine types. Muelle de Olaso is crafted from the second selection. 80% of the wine is fermented in stainless steel at low temperatures, while the remaining 20% is sun-dried and fermented in seasoned Sherry barrels, then blended and aged for 6 months on lees in the tank.

The 2022 harvest was the warmest we have worked with, marked by a dry spring and an extremely hot summer. Despite the challenging conditions, the vintage resulted in a complex and concentrated wine, one of our favorites in recent years.
