About the Wine
Horafosca 2022
Can Descregut, Penedes, White Wine
Horafosca 2022 is crafted from 100% Xarel·lo grapes, showcasing the traditional and authentic flavors of the Penedès region. This wine is produced from old vines planted in 1951 in the ‘La Figuera’ vineyard, located in La Pineda at 300 meters above sea level. The vineyard’s clay-limestone soil, combined with organic and biodynamic farming practices, provides the perfect environment for cultivating Xarel·lo.
The grapes are harvested manually, with cold skin maceration in the press and gentle pressing of whole, unstemmed grapes. The free-run juice undergoes static settling at 16ºC, followed by controlled fermentation in stainless steel tanks with indigenous yeast. The wine is aged for 7 months in 300-liter French and chestnut oak barrels with periodic stirring of the fine lees. It is not stabilized or filtered and is sealed with a natural cork from Gavarrers (Girona).
Horafosca 2022 offers concentrated aromas with elegant intensity, featuring citrus, stone fruit, and spicy notes. On the palate, it is smooth, balanced, and refreshing, with medium acidity providing a light effect. The fruit predominates over the wood, with a subtle influence of lees work providing body structure and silky depth. Ideal for pairing with creamy cheeses, smoked or marinated raw fish, or oven-baked dishes.
