Monopole Viura 2022
CVNE, Rioja, White Wine

Monopole is Spain’s oldest white wine brand, produced by CVNE since 1915. This white Rioja is crafted from Viura grapes harvested from CVNE’s vineyards and their traditional Rioja Alta suppliers. The Viura vines are head-trained and grow in fresh, clay soils. All vineyard work, including harvest, is done manually.

Monopole 2022 presents a pale yellow color with medium aromatic intensity. The nose reveals notes of spring flowers and ripe fruit like apple, pear, pineapple, and banana. On the palate, it offers a smooth and lively entry with a balanced mid-palate, showcasing the typical Viura acidity. Fruity, well-balanced, and elegant, with a fresh and cheerful finish.

The grapes undergo an 8-hour cold maceration with their skins at 10-12ºC. They are then gently pressed to produce the flower must, followed by static clarification without mechanical influence. Fermentation occurs in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures to preserve the primary fruity and floral aromas.

The 2022 harvest began on September 8th and concluded on September 27th. Despite the year’s drought and high temperatures, careful sampling and analysis ensured optimal harvest timing. Favorable weather maintained excellent grape health, promising wines with significant aging potential.
