Demencia by Yamal Williams 2021 is a meticulously crafted wine made from a unique blend of old-vine grapes in Villafranca del Bierzo. This limited-production wine is a tribute to the traditional, community-driven harvests of the Bierzo region, where generations of families, friends, and neighbors have worked together to cultivate the vineyards.

Vineyard & Viticulture

The vineyard is located in Villafranca del Bierzo at 600 meters altitude, with south-facing vines planted in clay-loam soils. These low-yield vines, planted in 1905, produce exceptional fruit that forms the foundation of this wine. Harvested by hand, the grapes are treated with utmost care to ensure quality and integrity.

Winemaking

This natural wine is made from a blend of Mencía, Garnacha Tintorera, Estaladiña, Doña Blanca, and Palomino. The grapes are fermented in open vats using native yeasts, with no sulfur added at any stage. Malolactic fermentation occurs naturally, and the wine is aged for 5 months without racking or stabilization. Lightly filtered at 3 microns, it was bottled on June 20, 2022.
