About the Wine

Veriquete 2019
Tentenublo Wines, Rioja, Red Wine

Sourced from a very old vineyard where ages of the vines range from 50 to 105 years old, named “Veriquete” due to the small lizards that can be seen around the area. This sandy soiled high-altitude vineyard produces very little fruit, and from this 0.40 hectare plot rarely more than 1,000 bottles are produced, this vintage Roberto was able to make 1,700 bottles only.

The grapes are hand harvested, and the different varieties are harvested at the same time, doing a very traditional field blend consisting of 80% Tempranillo, 10% Garnacha, 5% Viura and 5% Malvasia. The wine is fermented on stainless steel, only destemming 60% of the grapes. The wine is finally set to rest for 9 months in second use French oak barriques.

The resulting wine is fresh, precise and expressive. The wine is serious, but it never crosses the line of a wine that is excessively heavy, making it a very drinkable wine for every occasion. Coming from a unique site, it gives us a glimpse of what Rioja Alavesa is all about, freshness and drinkability.
