About the Wine

Els Presseguers Xarel-lo
L'Enclos de Peralba, Penedes, White Wine

Xarelo, a grape primarily associated with Catalonia, is steadily gaining appreciation for its distinct qualities. It tends to produce wines that balance acidity with a full-bodied nature.

Sourced from the Els Presseguers vineyard, this Xarelo originates from vines planted in 1994. Altitude is crucial to the terroir from which L’Enclos selects their grapes. Located at 400 meters above sea level, the vineyard benefits from cooler nights, vital in preserving grape acidity. The vineyard practices biodynamic farming, and harvesting is meticulously timed, adhering to the biodynamic calendar - specifically on a flower day and during the waxing moon phase.

Upon arrival at the winery, the grapes are macerated with their skins for 8 hours. Following this, a spontaneous fermentation ensues, driven by the vineyard's native yeasts. Post fermentation, the wine undergoes aging for 9 months in three varied vessels: a concrete egg, a used 330-liter barrel, and a 500-liter new oak barrel. This combination of aging vessels offers an insightful peek into the intrinsic quality and potential of Xarelo.
