The name of this wine, “La Xocolata del Lloro,” is derived from a popular Catalan expression. It translates to “the parrot’s chocolate” and refers to a trivial or symbolic indulgence—something small and often inconsequential, like giving a parrot chocolate it cannot even eat. The phrase is a playful reminder of life’s little, whimsical gestures, which Martí and Roc found fitting for a wine born from creative collaboration and experimentation.

Vineyard & Viticulture

The Xup vineyard, located in Can Benet de la Prua in the north of Alt Penedès, is farmed biodynamically by viticulturist Isabel Vidal. The clay and pebble soils, combined with a northwest orientation and southeast exposure, create the perfect conditions for cultivating the unique Malvasía de Sitges variety, adding depth and character to the wine.

Winemaking

La Xocolata del Lloro begins with hand-harvested grapes that are destemmed and fermented spontaneously with their skins. The wine is then gently pressed using a vertical press and aged for nine months in two used 500-liter barrels, with weekly battonage to enhance texture and complexity.
