About the Wine

Fuentes de San Lázaro
Demencia, El Bierzo, Red Wine

Vineyard & Viticulture

The grapes are sourced from three parcels—Villegas, Requeixada, and Fuente San Lázaro—located in Villafranca del Bierzo. Planted between 1905 and 1940, these old vines grow at altitudes ranging from 500 to 600 meters, on sandy-loam and clay soils. With low yields and careful cultivation, the vines express the full character of the Bierzo terroir.

Winemaking

The grapes undergo fermentation in stainless steel tanks using native yeasts, followed by malolactic fermentation. The wine is aged for 24 months in oak barrels with two rackings, without stabilization. After gentle filtration (1.5 microns), it was bottled on June 30, 2022. This careful process ensures a wine of great balance and complexity.
